Pathways Access Initiative
The Pathways Access Initiative (PAI) aims to help connect U.S. businesses with women-owned businesses (WOBs) in Peru. Qualified women entrepreneurs will be recruited, trained and certified by WEConnect International, the non-governmental organization that will serve as implementer of PAI. WEConnect International will partner these entrepreneurs with U.S. corporations through a global online bilingual portal.
Pathways to Cleaner Production
Improving environmental practices, such as reducing energy and water consumption, is critical to sustainable economic growth and Pathways countries have many positive and rich experiences that they can share with the region. The Pathways to Cleaner Production initiative forms a network of connected and inter-related activities working towards cleaner production in the region.
Pathways to Public Participation in Environmental Decision Making
The Organization of American States (OAS) will implement the public participation project through development of communication tools on environmental decision making and hosting outreach activities. This which will result in increased citizen understanding of the mechanisms available for public participation and will help to improve transparency, environmental law enforcement, and investment-related decision-making through citizen involvement.
Pathways to Public Participation in Protected Area Management
The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) will implement a Pathways project that demonstrates the how public participation in protected areas management supports environmental protection and economic growth and bolsters security and anti-narcotics and law enforcement efforts. DOI will bring the interested parties from the region together in Flores, Guatemala. Successes of the to highlight the success of multi-sector roundtables in the Maya Biosphere Reserve will be highlighted, including how to better engaging engage local stakeholders in the management of these public resources in environmentally sensitive, high-conflict zones. This project will provide Central American local and regional governments, NGOs and community members with the tools to address similar environmental and security concerns in their countries and at-risk protected areas.
